European Economic and Social Committee’s release
One Europe, one market 🇪🇺
The President of the European Economic and Social Committee met with Enrico Letta to discuss the crucial contribution of organised civil society to implementing the Letta Report on competitiveness and the Single Market, and to shaping the future One Market Act.
In our opinion, we highlight the urgent need to boost European competitiveness while safeguarding sustainability and social and territorial cohesion. This includes:
✔️ increased investment in social infrastructure, digital transformation and the energy transition;
✔️ reducing strategic dependencies on non-EU supply chains;
✔️ strengthening EU’s position in strategic industries.

ℹ️ The 28th regime was emphasised by Enrico Letta's report in 2024 as a major recommendation to reinforce the single market and remove internal barriers with a specific European code of business law.
